The basic Medela Pump In Style is only $210 (retails at BRUS for $280) and the new Medela Freestyle is $285 (from $380).

These are pretty hefty prices for a pump, but Medelas are seriously the best consumer pumps. Mine has survived pumping exclusively with both of my kids. Almost all of the moms I know who pumped somewhat regularly have the Medela.

I always used a blanket to cover the infant carrier when my babies fell asleep but I was always concerned with the blanket slipping/falling and making sure there was a "vent" of some sort for air flow to get inside. This takes care of both of my concerns. Too bad both my kiddos have outgrown their infant carrier already.

But even after your child outgrows the infant carrier, you can still use it as a shopping cart cover (and probably high chair too)! It's probably not as cushioned as some of the other covers, but it's a secondary purpose. And they say you can use it a nursing cover as well. Ah, I love multi-use products since it saves me from having to spend more money AND anything that helps to reduce the gazillion things I have to lug around with me is great in my book!

Baby Daily Deal Sites

I've mentioned some of these sites in previous posts before, but I thought it might be nice to dedicate a post to them.

There are actually quite a few "deal of the day" sites catering towards parents with little ones:

MamaBargains - this site started up last year and is one of the ones I try to look at everyday. They sell one item (usually there is a choice of color/size/pattern) at a time. When the items sell out, or the day ends, they'll start selling another item. Savings are usually 50% or more off retail on the items they sell. They have sold everything from strollers to shoes along with the usual useful baby items.

BabySteals - another site launched last year that I try to visit daily. They have one deal a day that starts at 9am mst. Once it sells out, you'll have to wait until the next day for the next deal. Savings are also usually 50% or more off retail. They're based in Utah so if you're local, you can pickup for FREE but otherwise there is a shipping charge. They sell a wide arrange of items too ranging from magazines to wall decor along with the usual useful baby items.

BabyEarth - to my knowledge, this started most recently and is an actual online retailer of baby itmes. But they have something called Ga Ga Deals Mon-Fri from 9am-5pm cst. During that time, one item is listed and the price of that item continues to decrease until the allotted one hour is over or the item is sold out. So shoppers can potentially buy the same item at different prices. Depending on the item, things have generally been selling out by the time they get to 40-50% off. They sell more standard baby store items and have had Maclaren strollers, adiri bottles, humidifiers, etc. Shipping is $6.95 for orders less than $99.

BabyBloop - another deal-of-the-day site. One item is sold per day at well below the manufacturers suggested retail price. When that product is sold out, it is gone and no longer available. Their items tend to be at higher price points such as Lyra Ferby colored pencils for $100. I honestly don't know what is so special about those colored pencils, but it is 50% off retail. So not my cup of tea, but maybe for others...

Tottlers - also another daily deals site. They've recently added blogging and other parts to their site, but they still have their daily deals. They tend to offer more smaller items than the other sites, such as one pair of Trumpette booties.
